This webinar provides a strategic, system-level overview of how health organisations embed the Fundamentals of Care (FOC) into everyday practice, drawing on organisational case studies from the Northern and Southern regions of Aotearoa New Zealand. It highlights how leaders attempt to hardwire fundamental care through the fabric of their organisations using quality improvement methodology, capability building, and research and development.

Dr Parr will explore:

• Why Fundamentals of Care still matter showcasing strategic alignment and organisational case studies from two New Zealand regions
• How leaders attempt to embed FOC at organisational scale through a programme of work spanning leadership visibility, quality improvement, capability building, and research and development, revealing both obstacles and conditions for success.
• How organisations sustain and evaluate FOC using structured approaches such as peer review to build capability, demonstrate impact, and integrate fundamental care into everyday practice, standards, and system governance.

The webinar will showcase the importance of clinical leadership in delivering high‑quality, relational, person‑centred fundamental care and how organisational and national alignment create the conditions for sustainable improvement and equity.

Jenny has led system-wide implementation and evaluation of the Fundamentals of Care across New Zealand for more than a decade. She is an experienced nurse leader, educator, and researcher whose interests include fundamental care, quality measurement, implementation science, and improving patient and whānau experience.
