The ILC Annual International Conference is the signature event for the ILC and brings together our global community of fundamental care experts and champions from practice, research, education and policy.
The theme of the ILC 2024 Annual International Conference is Empowering Care Excellence: Embedding Fundamental Care in Practice, Education, Research & Policy.

Professor Alison Leary – UK
Professor Alison Leary is a Senior Consultant at the World Health Organisation, Human Resources for Health, and the Chair of Healthcare & Workforce Modelling at London South Bank University. She undertakes projects around the modelling of complex systems in healthcare. Her interests are in the complexity of healthcare, mathematical models and data science. She is a registered nurse and is particularly interested in specialist and advanced practice.
Dr Crystal Oldman – UK
Dr Crystal Oldman is the Chief Executive of the Queen’s Nursing Institute. Crystal worked in the NHS for 18 years, the majority of which was in the field of community nursing, working with some of the most deprived communities in west London.
She has a passion for learning, teaching and research to support best practice and in 1994 joined Buckinghamshire New University as a senior lecturer, to develop a variety of community nursing programmes.’
Professor Dimitri Beeckman – Belgium & Sweden
Professor Dimitri Beeckman is a Professor of Nursing Science and holds many current and former positions of influence in global wound research organisations. His expertise lies in wound – and skin integrity research, as well as psychometrics, clinical trials and education. He has authored over 200 scientific publications and shared his research insights in more than 80 countries.
Professor Debra Jackson – Australia
Professor of Debra Jackson is a highly regarded leader, academic and author in the international nursing community who is passionate about health equity and social justice. Debra’s career has spanned clinical practice, academic research and scholarship, and in 2019, she was honoured with an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to medical education in the field of nursing practice and research as an academic and author.
Dr Devin Carr – USA
Devin Carr is Chief Nursing Officer at Maine Medical Center (MMC), leading the medical center’s Magnet-Recognized nursing team. Devin has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare in a variety of clinical, academic, and leadership roles. He has collaborated across multiple enterprises to improve patient satisfaction scores, reduce risk and harm, and strengthen regulatory compliance readiness.
