FreeDesigning Research that Matters: Applying the Fundamentals of Care Framework from Question to Implementation
This workshop will explore practical ways to integrate the Fundamentals of Care (FoC) Framework into research design and implementation.
Through a series of brief presentations and a hands-on group activity, participants will apply the FoC Framework in various methodological ways—as a guide for designing interventions, developing measurement tools, and shaping qualitative inquiry. Working from a shared clinical scenario, participants will collaborate to turn FoC domains into concrete research components, such as interview questions, survey items, and intervention elements. This practical exercise will demonstrate how the FoC Framework can be used throughout different research stages to improve coherence, rigour, and relevance.
By engaging with real research examples and collaborative design tasks, attendees will develop practical skills in operationalising the FoC Framework and integrating it meaningfully into research that informs care delivery and practice.
This workshop will suit anyone whether or not you have experience in research.
Learning Outcomes:
- Apply the Fundamentals of Care (FoC) Framework across multiple research stages to enhance coherence, rigour, and relevance.
- Integrate the FoC Framework into key methodological decisions, including data collection, variable and outcome selection, intervention design, and analytic approaches.
- Translate the FoC Framework into practical research strategies by developing FoC-informed tools (e.g., interview guides, surveys, and fidelity measures) that strengthen both methodological rigour and practice impact.
