ILC Conference Workshop – Clinical Practice

Dimensions of Successful Integration of Fundamental Care into Practice

The Workshop will take the participants through the five dimensions of successful integration of FoC in practice settings. Participants will hear about examples of successful implementation across organisations, within wards and by interdisciplinary teams Participants will take part in the start of the co-design process for the creation of a new set of resources for embedding FoC into practice. Participants will explore how they can use the existing tools and resources of the ILC to start, or continue, the journey towards embedding fundamental care.

The workshop will explore the five dimensions of successful implementation: 

  1. Awareness Raising – how to create a common language and shared understanding of fundamentals of care (FoC) and what needs to change 
  2. Strategic alignment – how to match FoC to your organisation’s goals and mission and get executive support 
  3. Working together – how to develop a plan, for work inga cross multiple levels of an organisation, engaging colleagues, sharing the responsibility, and setting priorities  
  4. Checking it works – how to measure outcomes and monitor progress and impact, including formal evaluation and data collection  
  5. Sustainability and integration – making person-centred fundamental care business as usual, embedding into systems – HR, IT, procurement, management, quality and safety 

This workshop will suit point of care practitioners, frontline clinicians, clinical leaders (managers, advanced practice, directors, executives) 

Learning Outcomes: 

  • How to use the resources and tools of the ILC to raise awareness and create a common language for fundamentals of care
  • How to work strategically in an organisation to achieve change
  • How to identify opportunities to embed FoC into practice
