Designing Research that Matters: Applying the Fundamentals of Care Framework from Question to Implementation

Join us on the afternoon before the ILC Conference for an engaging, practical workshop designed to explore the Fundamentals of Care in a Research based setting.

These limited-capacity workshops offer an opportunity to go deeper into key themes of person-centred fundamental care through interactive discussion, practical activities and shared experiences.

The conference & pre-conference workshops will take place at the iconic Musikkens Hus in Aalborg, bringing together international delegates in a world-class venue.

This workshop will explore practical ways to integrate the Fundamentals of Care (FoC) Framework into research design and implementation.

Through a series of brief presentations and a hands-on group activity, participants will apply the FoC Framework in various methodological ways—as a guide for designing interventions, developing measurement tools, and shaping qualitative inquiry. Working from a shared clinical scenario, participants will collaborate to turn FoC domains into concrete research components, such as interview questions, survey items, and intervention elements. This practical exercise will demonstrate how the FoC Framework can be used throughout different research stages to improve coherence, rigour, and relevance.

By engaging with real research examples and collaborative design tasks, attendees will develop practical skills in operationalising the FoC Framework and integrating it meaningfully into research that informs care delivery and practice. 

This workshop will suit anyone whether or not you have experience in research.
